Twelve men are shut into a school gymnasium in contemporary Moscow, and they must agree unanimously on whether a young Chechen killed his stepfather, a Russian army officer. Nikita Mikhalkov, who also plays Juror #2, gives each man his turn at the center, among them Sergey Makovetskiy, Sergey Garmash and Valentin Gaft. The jurors start out as strangers and rivals, and as each one confesses his own story, they begin to reach toward each other.
