“The declassified true story of the horse soldiers”

In the weeks after the September 11 attacks, Captain Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth) leads a twelve-man Special Forces team into northern Afghanistan. They are sent to work beside General Dostum (Navid Negahban), a local warlord, against the Taliban. Nicolai Fuglsig's film, adapted from Doug Stanton's book Horse Soldiers, rests on whether American soldiers and Afghan fighters with little in common can trust each other enough to fight as one.
