“The extraordinary true story of Solomon Northup.”

In 1841, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is a free Black man in upstate New York when two men lure him to Washington, D.C., drug him, and sell him into slavery. Steve McQueen follows him onto the Louisiana plantations, where he serves a kind master, William Ford (Benedict Cumberbatch), and then a brutal one, Edwin Epps (Michael Fassbender). Solomon has to hide who he is and keep his name, his learning, and his hope of getting home.
