“This man could have changed history”

Georg Elser (Christian Friedel) is a carpenter in a small German town in 1939, a quiet man who plays music and keeps his opinions to himself. Oliver Hirschbiegel follows him through the Gestapo interrogation rooms, where Nebe (Burghart Klaußner) and Heinrich Müller (Johann von Bülow) press him to name who put him up to it. Elser is working alone, and Berlin cannot accept that, so every hour he holds out raises the cost of what he knows.
