Mike O'Donnell (Matthew Perry) is a middle-aged man whose life has stalled since he gave up his basketball dreams to raise a family. A supernatural accident transforms him back into his seventeen-year-old self (Zac Efron), giving him a chance to reclaim the future he abandoned. Burr Steers shoots the transformation as pure fantasy wish-fulfillment, letting the comedy play in the gap between who Mike was and who he's become.
