“The first casualty of war is truth”

Estonian soldiers in 1944 find themselves in uniforms of opposing armies, and some of the men shooting at each other are brothers. Elmo Nüganen follows them from the Blue Hills to the Sõrve Peninsula, with Karl Tammik (Kaspar Velberg) and Jüri Jõgi (Kristjan Üksküla) among those forced to choose a side. The wives and families left behind face choices of their own, because in this war loyalty to one's own blood and loyalty to a flag no longer point the same way.
