(1988)Directed by Ernest Thompson95 min · RDrama, War, Romance
“The year the country split apart and a generation came together.”

In 1969, the Vietnam War is on the television and the draft is on everyone's mind in a small American town, where Ralph Carr (Robert Downey Jr.) and Scott Denny (Kiefer Sutherland) feel stuck. Ernest Thompson sets Scott against his father Cliff (Bruce Dern), a veteran with fixed views on the war, while Ralph copes with his mother Ev. The boys' friendship is what the story leans on, two people holding each other up in a place neither wants to stay.
