“An epic drama of adventure and exploration.”

Dr. David Bowman (Keir Dullea) is an astronaut aboard a ship bound for Jupiter, sent to investigate a monolith that humanity found buried beneath the lunar surface. Stanley Kubrick gives him one companion, Dr. Frank Poole (Gary Lockwood), and one more presence on board, the computer HAL 9000 (Douglas Rain). The men talk with HAL as a crewmate, and the long trip out turns on what passes between them.
