2010

“In the very near future, a small group of Americans and Russians set out on the greatest adventure of them all...to see if there is life beyond the stars.”

The Discovery was left circling Jupiter nine years ago, and nobody on Earth can say why its crew died or what its computer did. Dr. Heywood Floyd (Roy Scheider) joins a mixed American and Russian team aboard the Leonov, led by Tanya Kirbuk (Helen Mirren), to reach the ship while their two countries edge toward nuclear war. Peter Hyams sends them toward that ship, and toward HAL, the one thing aboard that might still be running.
