“We were warned.”

Geophysicist Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) reads the data on solar storms and finds the earth's core heating up, then carries the warning to President Thomas Wilson. Writer Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) stumbles on the same information while volcanoes and earthquakes tear into the world. Governments hurry to build arks for a fraction of the population, and one question hangs over every character: who gets a place on board.
