“We were warned.”

Jackson Curtis (John Cusack), a failed novelist, learns from a geologist friend that the earth's crust is destabilizing and catastrophe is days away. He races to gather his ex-wife Kate (Amanda Peet) and their children while the ground splits open beneath cities and walls of water bear down on the coasts. What matters in the end is not whether anyone escapes, but that some people chose to save others when they could have run alone.
