20th Century Boys: Beginning of the End

Kenji Endô (Toshiaki Karasawa) runs a convenience store in 1997, years after giving up on his dream of being a rock star. As a boy in 1969 he and his friends built a secret base and wrote a Book of Prophecies about villains out to conquer the world. When an old classmate dies and a neighbourhood family vanishes, a cult led by a masked figure called Friend starts acting out those pages. The film is about a grown man forced to answer for a game he played as a kid.
