20th Century Women

Dorothea (Annette Bening), a single mother in her mid-50s, can't work out how to raise her teenage son Jamie in Santa Barbara in 1979. She asks two younger women to help: Abbie (Greta Gerwig), a punk artist renting a room in the house, and Julie (Elle Fanning), a teenage neighbor. Mike Mills's film follows Jamie being raised by all of them at once, and Dorothea has to decide how much of him she can hand over.
