23 000 Lives

In the Mediterranean in 2016, a crew of young activists boards the rescue ship Iuventa to save migrants crossing toward Europe. Lukas (Louis Hofmann), Kitty (Mala Emde), and the others work in rotating shifts, pulling people from the water through storms and pressure. Goller builds the film around their conversations and exhaustion, watching how conviction holds or fractures when the work never stops.
