“Seize your glory!”

The Persian fleet is bearing down on Greece, and the general Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) has to talk the quarrelling Greek city-states into standing together against it. Facing him is Artemisia (Eva Green), the vengeful commander of the Persian navy, serving a king who has become a god. Noam Murro stages the war at sea in heavy, painterly slow motion, with Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) looking on from Sparta.
