“"Give Me Any American for 36 Hours And I'll Give You Back a Traitor"”

Major Jefferson Pike (James Garner), an American officer who knows when and where the Allies will land in Europe, is drugged and carried off by German agents. He wakes in what looks like an American hospital, where a doctor, Major Gerber (Rod Taylor), tells him the war ended years ago. George Seaton keeps the walls pale and the nurse, Anna Hedler (Eva Marie Saint), kind, while the invasion is only hours away and Pike's memory is the thing the Germans came for.
