40 Acres

“Get off our land.”

Hailey Freeman (Danielle Deadwyler) is holding a farm in rural Canada through a famine that has emptied the country around it. Her family are the last descendants of Black farmers who settled that land after the Civil War, and a militia now wants it for itself. R.T. Thorne keeps the Freemans together on their forty acres, with Hailey and her son Emanuel (Kataem O'Connor) standing guard over the same ground.
