Kate Mercer (Charlotte Rampling) wants one thing this week, which is for her 45th wedding anniversary party to go off without a hitch. Then a letter reaches her husband Geoff (Tom Courtenay): the body of his first love has been found preserved in a Swiss glacier. Andrew Haigh lets a long marriage meet a woman who was never part of it, and the past turns out to be far from finished.
