“His Wife... His Mistress... His Career... A Deadly Trap”

A videotape arrives in the hands of three men, and on it is Harry Mitchell (Roy Scheider), a Los Angeles manufacturer, with his young mistress. They want $100,000, and Harry says yes while planning not to pay, since going to the police would hand the story to the press. John Frankenheimer sets this against his wife Barbara's (Ann-Margret) city council campaign, and every day Harry stalls, she has more to lose.
