“Why did America have room in its heart for only one hero?”

In 1961, Roger Maris (Barry Pepper) and Mickey Mantle (Thomas Jane) both start the season hitting home runs for the New York Yankees, each one closing in on Babe Ruth's record of 60. Mantle is the city's favorite, and Maris is the man the fans decide they don't want. Billy Crystal follows the two of them through the summer, Maris alone in the clubhouse with the crowd's noise still ringing from the stands.
