71: Into the Fire

(2010)Directed by John H. Lee120 minWar
“The day that courage came of age.”

Oh Jang-beom (Choi Seung-hyun) is a student who wants only to prove himself a soldier, and in August 1950 he gets his chance when 71 student-soldiers are left to guard Pohang while the army gathers at the Nakdong River. John H. Lee sets the boys against North Korean troops with little training and fewer men than the job needs. Beside Jang-beom stands Kap-jo (Kwon Sang-woo), a hard older boy who cannot stand him.
