“A film by Claude Sautet”

Nobody explains what Bruno Calgagni (Patrick Dewaere) did in America, only that he has been sent back to France after a prison sentence for narcotics. His first stop is the apartment of his widowed father, René (Yves Robert), where he looks for work and a way to start over. Claude Sautet watches the two men sit in the same rooms, each waiting for the other to speak first.
