A Bill of Divorcement
Hilary Fairfield (John Barrymore) has spent fifteen years in an asylum since the war, and he wants his old life back, his wife and the daughter he left as a child. He comes home to find Meg (Billie Burke) planning to divorce him and Sydney (Katharine Hepburn, in her first film) grown and about to be married. George Cukor keeps it in the family house, where a father stands in the doorway of rooms that no longer have a place for him.
