Sam Montgomery (Hilary Duff) works the night shift at her father's diner while her stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) drains the business. When Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray), the school's quarterback, invites her to a Halloween masquerade, Sam enters a world that doesn't know who she really is.
