A Dangerous Woman

Martha (Debra Winger) lives quietly with her aunt Frances (Barbara Hershey), and she cannot lie, which is why trouble keeps finding her. It costs her a job at the dry cleaner's once the shifty Getso (David Strathairn) is done with her, and it pulls her toward Mackey (Gabriel Byrne), a handyman also sleeping with Frances. Stephen Gyllenhaal leaves Martha in the frame by herself, a woman standing in a room in the middle of a town that has already decided about her.
