Edward (Sebastian Stan) is a struggling actor in New York who lives with neurofibromatosis, and he gets by on small roles and a friendly neighbor, the playwright Ingrid (Renate Reinsve). Then he agrees to an experimental medical procedure that will give him a new face. Aaron Schimberg follows him afterward, when the face he wanted has arrived and Edward has everything to lose.
