A Difficult Life

Why would a man turn down the fascists and then spend the rest of his life paying for it? Silvio Magnozzi (Alberto Sordi) joins the resistance alongside Elena (Lea Massari), and after the war his furious newspaper articles land him a prison sentence. Dino Risi keeps the comedy and the hardship in the same scenes, so the laughs come from a man who will not bend and cannot get ahead.
