A Drama of Jealousy (and other things)

“The story of a woman who was completely faithful... to two men”

In 1970 Rome, Oreste (Marcello Mastroianni), a construction worker, takes his young fiancée Adelaide (Monica Vitti) to communist rallies and to the filthy beaches of Ostia. Then Nello (Giancarlo Giannini), a cook at a pizzeria, joins them, and Ettore Scola puts the three of them in the same crowded frame. Oreste has a steady job and a woman he plans to marry, and all of it is now in the hands of a stranger.
