A Gentle Creature

In a small village in Russia, a woman (Vasilina Makovtseva) opens her door to find the parcel she mailed to her husband in prison, sent back with no explanation. Confused and angry, she sets out for the prison itself, determined to learn why it was refused. Sergei Loznitsa, working from Dostoyevsky's 1876 story, follows her into a system that gives her no answer, and the husband she is trying to reach stays out of her grasp.
