A Hero of Our Times

Alberto Menichetti (Alberto Sordi) lives with his aunt and an old housekeeper, works at a firm, and is afraid of nearly everything. His boss, the widow De Ritis (Franca Valeri), is fond of him, but he is waiting for the young Marcella (Giovanna Ralli) to turn of age so he can declare himself. Mario Monicelli makes a comedy about a man whose fear and selfishness decide what he does with every chance he gets.
