A History of Violence

“Tom Stall had the perfect life...until he became a hero.”

Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) runs a diner and lives quietly with his wife Edie (Maria Bello) and their children, until two armed men walk in and he kills them in self-defense. The papers call him a hero, and then Carl Fogarty (Ed Harris) arrives at the counter, insisting he knows Tom by another name. David Cronenberg follows the family as it goes on in the same house, Tom and Edie standing across from each other, neither one sure who the other is.
