A Hologram for the King

“How far will you go? To find yourself.”

In the Saudi desert, Alan Clay (Tom Hanks), a struggling American businessman, sits in a tent waiting for a king who never arrives. He has come to sell a hologram technology, and the bureaucracy around him moves slower than the heat, while a growth on his back keeps worrying him. Tom Tykwer films it in flat, bleached light and lets Alan's days stretch out like the waiting itself.
