A.I. Artificial Intelligence

(2001)Directed by Steven Spielberg146 min · PG-13Drama, Science Fiction, Adventure
David is 11 years old. He weighs 60 pounds. He is 4 feet, 6 inches tall. He has brown hair. His love is real. But he is not.

David (Haley Joel Osment) is an android child built with the capacity to love unconditionally, and he fixes that love entirely on Monica Swinton (Frances O'Connor). When she no longer wants him, he sets out across a flooded world to find the Blue Fairy, certain that becoming real will earn back her affection. Spielberg shoots this journey with a painterly attention to decay and yearning, letting the camera linger on what cannot be recovered.
