A Master Builder

Halvard Solness (Wallace Shawn) is an aging architect who has bullied his wife, his employees and his mistresses for a lifetime, and now wants to make peace before his last act. Jonathan Demme films Wallace Shawn and André Gregory's staging of Ibsen's 1892 play, with Julie Hagerty as Mrs. Solness and Lisa Joyce as Hilde Wangel. Shawn sits with Larry Pine's Dr. Herdal, an old man in a small room, waiting.
