“A work of deadly fiction.”

Lawson Russell (Cuba Gooding Jr.), a disgraced lawyer, moves to Key West to start over and befriends an aging novelist, Christopher Marlowe. When Marlowe dies of a heart attack, Lawson publishes the manuscript the old man lent him under his own name, and it lands on the best-seller list. Rowdy Herrington writes the trouble in a few lines, with Lawson at his desk, a dead man's pages in front of him.
