A Page of Madness

A man takes a job as a janitor in a psychiatric hospital to stay near his wife, who years ago tried to drown their child and then herself. The Custodian (Masao Inoue) mops the corridors and watches her through the bars. When their daughter (Ayako Iijima) arrives with news of her wedding, old memories and visions press in. Teinosuke Kinugasa made it as a silent film, and it was lost for 45 years before he found it in his own storehouse.
