A Patch of Blue

“Love is color blind.”

In 1965 America, Selina D'Arcey (Elizabeth Hartman) is eighteen and has been blind since childhood, living in a cramped, poor home with her abusive mother, Rose-Ann (Shelley Winters). She sits in a city park, where she meets Gordon Ralfe (Sidney Poitier), an educated Black man who stops to talk with her. Guy Green sets their friendship against a racially divided country and a home that will not let her go, and Gordon is determined to get her out of it.
