A Place in the World

Mario (Federico Luppi) and Ana (Cecilia Roth) have left Buenos Aires for a remote Argentine valley, where he runs a school and a wool cooperative and she heads a clinic. Their son Ernesto (Gastón Batyi) grows up among the peasants, until Hans (José Sacristán), a weary Spanish geologist, arrives to survey the land for a dam. Adolfo Aristarain films the valley plainly and unhurried, giving each daily task as much room as the argument over the land.
