A Quiet Place in the Country

(1968)Directed by Elio Petri106 minHorror, Thriller
“In a quiet place she strips away the structure of his mind and body... piece by piece.”

Leonardo Ferri (Franco Nero) is a painter who can no longer paint, and he moves into a country villa with his mistress Flavia (Vanessa Redgrave) hoping the quiet will fix it. Elio Petri sends them out for a weekend, and the house starts to press on Leonardo's mind. The film puts a man's need to make art beside his grip on what is real, and shows how little holds the two together.
