A Scanner Darkly

“Everything is not going to be OK.”

Nobody in a near-future California can say where the new drug comes from, only that it is everywhere and it is eating people's minds. Bob Arctor (Keanu Reeves), an undercover cop, lives among the users he is supposed to be watching, with Barris (Robert Downey Jr.) and Luckman (Woody Harrelson) for housemates. Richard Linklater draws it all in rotoscoped animation, and Bob is told to put his own life under surveillance, with his sense of who he is already slipping.
