A Shot in the Dark

(1964)Directed by Blake Edwards102 min · PGComedy, Mystery, Crime
“…the picture that gets away with murder!”

A man is shot dead, and every piece of evidence points to Maria Gambrelli (Elke Sommer), the maid who was found standing over him. Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) takes the case, decides she is innocent, and keeps arresting everyone else. Blake Edwards builds the film out of Sellers's pratfalls and Charles Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) losing his composure, all set in a frenzy of slapstick.
