“Sometimes good people do evil things.”

A small plane lies buried in the snow of rural Minnesota, and inside it is a duffel bag holding $4.4 million. Two brothers, Hank (Bill Paxton) and Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton), find it with Jacob's friend Lou, and they agree to sit on the money until spring. Sam Raimi follows Hank, a decent man with a pregnant wife, Sarah (Bridget Fonda), as keeping the secret begins to cost him.
