On the morning she starts work at a four-story hotel in Paris, Valérie (Virginie Ledoyen) has told her boyfriend Rémi (Benoît Magimel) she is pregnant, and he has not yet said what he wants to do. She has a job she has never done, a mother (Dominique Valadié) to answer to, and a decision no one else can make for her. Benoît Jacquot shoots the ninety minutes in real time with a camera that follows close behind her.
