A Slight Case of Murder
It is 1938, and Prohibition has just ended, leaving Remy Marko (Edward G. Robinson), a former bootlegger, to run a legitimate brewery and chase his daughter Mary's (Jane Bryan) wedding to a respectable young man. Lloyd Bacon puts his hero in a house with four bodies he cannot account for, a prospective son-in-law arriving, and bankers at the door. Remy has to keep the guests out of every room, and a lifetime of rough habits is all he has to do it with.
