A Soldier's Story

(1984)Directed by Norman Jewison101 min · PGMystery, Crime, Drama
“Alone, far from home, and far from justice, he has three days to learn the truth about a murder... and the truth is a story you won't forget.”

A Black master sergeant is found shot dead outside a Louisiana Army base, and no one on it will say who did it. Captain Davenport (Howard Rollins), a Black military lawyer sent from Washington, questions Private Wilkie (Art Evans) and Corporal Ellis (Robert Townsend) in Norman Jewison's film. The white officers resent him, the frightened soldiers hold back, and Davenport has little time before the base closes ranks.
