Ulrik (Stellan Skarsgård) walks out of prison after twelve years, and the question that follows him is who gave him up. Hans Petter Moland sets him in a plain apartment and a Norwegian small town, where his old associates are waiting and his estranged family is not. Ulrik has to choose between chasing the men who turned him in and trying to reach the people he left behind.
