A Song Is Born

In 1948, seven scholars are working on an encyclopedia of music, and they realize they know nothing about swing. They hunt for an expert and land on Honey Swanson (Virginia Mayo), a nightclub singer whose gangster boyfriend has no plans to let her go. Howard Hawks brings in Louis Armstrong and Tommy Dorsey as themselves, while the shy Hobart Frisbee (Danny Kaye) finds himself pulled toward the singer who has come to teach him.
