Blanche DuBois (Vivien Leigh) is a Southern belle with her good manners still intact and little else left. She arrives at her sister Stella's (Kim Hunter) cramped New Orleans apartment, hoping to rest. Elia Kazan keeps Stanley Kowalski (Marlon Brando) close at hand, and Blanche keeps up her genteel pretenses a little longer each day.
