Blanche DuBois (Jessica Lange) is a fading Southern belle who arrives in New Orleans to stay with her sister Stella (Diane Lane). The cramped apartment belongs to Stella's husband, Stanley Kowalski (Alec Baldwin), who has no patience for his sister-in-law's airs and starts testing her. Glenn Jordan adapted this television film from the 1992 Broadway revival with Baldwin and Lange, and it keeps the feel of the stage.
