An Autumn Tale

Two women are quietly arranging a husband for their friend, and she doesn't know it. Magali (Béatrice Romand) is a widowed winemaker who loves her vines and goes home to an empty house, while Rosine (Alexia Portal) and Isabelle (Marie Rivière) each start working on her behalf. Éric Rohmer lets the schemes unfold through long talks, and what grows between Magali and the people circling her is a tenderness that neither side quite says aloud.
