“Our sorrow was conceived long before our birth.”

Su-mi (Im Soo-jung) comes home with her younger sister Su-yeon (Moon Geun-young) after a stay in a mental institution. Their stepmother Eun-joo (Yum Jung-ah) is waiting, and the house turns strange. Kim Jee-woon bases the story on a Joseon-era folktale, and Su-mi spends the film guarding her sister from a woman she will not trust.
